2011 New Mexican Spring Futurity Trials

On Friday, March 25th was the trials for the 2011 New Mexican Spring Futurity held at Sunland Park in Sunland Park, New Mexico. We had 7 horses entered in the trials and were lucky and fast enough to get a few qualified. Chick Town, owned by Jim and Michele Laird and ridden by Tony Guymon was in the 3rd of 8 trials and ran a very impressive race winning by 1 1/2 lengths in a time of 15.089 going 300 yards. That time qualified him 6th fastest for the finals. Cat Ta Hoola, owned by Jay and Mary Lou Standefer and also ridden by Tony Guymon was in the 6th trial and ran a fantastic race winning by 3/4 of a length in a time of 15.119. That time qualified her 8th fastest for the finals. We also had Fysta, owned by both David and Ross Hinkins and ridden by Freddie Martinez in the 8th trial. She ran a great race but was just outfinished running 2nd in a time of 15.223. Although she didn't qualify for the Futurity, her time was good enough to qualify her 3rd fastest for the Spring Fling which is the Juvenile/Consolation for this Futurity. The finals for 2011 New Mexican Spring Futurity will be held on Sunday, April 10th. Congratulations to all the connections of the qualifiers!!!
