My mom made these cute Halloween costumes for my kids and they wore them at Disneyland this past week. I think they turned out so cute and thought that I would share. ~ Cindy~

New Mexico Classic Futurity Trials

Yesterday, October 16th, was the trials for the New Mexico Classic Futurity held at Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico. We had a very good day qualifying 3 out of the 4 horses we had entered back in the finals.

RGR Lyon A Tac, owned by David and Ross Hinkins, ran a nice 2nd in the 1st trial in a time of 19.664 for the 400 yards qualifying 4th fastest for the finals. High Five Lane, owned by Kip Watterson, finished strong winning by a neck after leaving a little late in the 5th trial in a time of 19.664 qualifying 5th fastest. And Brookstone Flash, owned by Jay and Mary Lou Standefer, left a little tardy but closed well finishing 2nd in the 4th trial in a time of 19.712 qualifying 7th fastest. Unfortunately, Cozby, owned by The Coz Bunch, was bumped hard and knocked off stride finishing 5th but due to disqualification of the 3 horse was moved up to 4th place but didn't qualify.

The finals for the New Mexico Classic Futurity will be held on Sunday, October 31st. Congratulations and Good Luck to all that qualified!

Dash For Cash Futurity

Last night, October 9th, was the finals for the Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park. In the finals we had Unashamed, owned by Melvin and Marty Neugebauer, who won his trial back on September 25th qualifying 10th fastest.

We were unlucky at the draw, drawing the 10 hole again which is the deepest part of that track. We knew we had a good horse, a horse that could do it, although they had him at 30-1 odds and picked to run last. But we also knew that we were in real tough especially with a lot of those tough horses on the inside. We would have to be on top coming out, with no mistakes running down through there, and real fast to be able to beat the inside field.

When the race started, Unashamed got out a little tardy but quickly overcame that and ran an exceptional race giving it a solid effort especially for being in the deepest part of the track. He ended up running 4th still driving at the finish and wanting more, getting beat just 3/4 of a length overall. The top 3 finishers came out of the 4, 3 and 7 holes.

We were very pleased with the way Unashamed run and look forward to the next time we get to see what this horse can do. Congratulations to Melvin and Marty and all the connections!
