CHAMPION GONE TO THE MOUNTAIN WINS COMEBACK RACE
March 22, 2010 - Reigning distance champion Gone To The Mountain returned to the races on Saturday, winning an 870-yard optional claimer at Sunland Park by an easy 5 1/4 lengths.
The 5-year-old stallion by Panther Mountain out of the Fast Lindy mare Lindys Bouquet is a homebred for Clyde Woerner, is trained by Wes Giles and was ridden by Freddie Martinez. The stallion is currently pulling double duty, as he also is standing at stud at A&A Ranch in Anthony, New Mexico.
Gone To The Mountain has now won 11 of 23 starts and earned $410,994. The five-time stakes winner on October 31 won the Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship (G1), securing himself the title as champion distance horse.
